Getting the Hang of Rolling at Walgreens

Yesterday's trips to Walgreens went much better than planned.  Things started off not great when I found that the first Walgreens I went to (and my favorite) was totally out of the Schick Xtreme 3 Razors.  Since my original plan had been to alternate transactions between the Swiffer refills and the Xtreme 3 razors (since both produce a RR), that threw a small wrench in things.  Instead I ended up just doing 2 transactions at that store, both the same.

Store 1 - Transaction 1
4 Swiffer Refills @ $3.74 each
2 Epson Salts @$4.99 BOGO
-(2) .50/1 swiffer refill Qs
-(2) BOGO swiffer refill Qs
=  $11.47
-$4RR from previous purchase
=$9.07 (after tax - I hate tax!) - received $3RR

Store 1 - Transaction 2
4 Swiffer Refills @ $3.74 each
2 Epson Salts @$4.99 BOGO
-(2) .50/1 swiffer refill Qs
-(2) BOGO swiffer refill Qs
=  $11.47

=$13.07 (after tax - I hate tax!) - received $3RR

Notice that I didn't use the $3RR from Transaction 1 on Transaction 2. If I had then Transaction 2 would not have given me a RR.  So, I took my 2-$3RR and headed over to the next closest Walgreens (which luckily wasn't very far out of the way from other places I needed to go) and was happy to find that they had plenty of the Xtreme 3 razors in stock (probably because they were in the wrong place and not tagged correctly).

Store 2 - Transaction 3
1 Xtreme 3 Razor @ $5.99
1 Clairol Nice n Easy Foam @ $7.99
1 Peanuts Xmas Cocoa @.99 (filler, misrang - should have been .25)
-$1 Schick Q
-FREE Clairol Q
= $5.98
-$3RR (from transaction 1)
=$4.18 (after tax) -received another $3RR
(after this transaction we did realize that the cocoa had misrang and she refunded me the .75)
= $3.43 (recieved $1RR from Clairol and $3RR from Schick)

Store 2 - Transaction 4
4 Swiffer Refills @ $3.74 each
-(2) BOGO swiffer refill Qs
= $7.48
-$3RR
-$1RR
=$4.68 (after tax) - received $3RR
(note: no filler needed on this transaction since I only used as many coupons as I had items)

Store 2 - Transaction 5
1 Xtreme 3 Razor @ $5.99
1 Peanuts Xmas Cocoa @ .25
-$1 Schick Q
=$5.24
-$3RR
=$2.74 (after tax) - received $3RR

Store 2 - Transaction 6

1 Xtreme 3 Razor @ $5.99
1 Peanuts Xmas Cocoa @ .25
-$1 Schick Q
=$5.24
-$3RR
=$2.74 (after tax) - received $3RR

Store 2 - Transaction 7

1 Xtreme 3 Razor @ $5.99
1 Peanuts Xmas Cocoa @ .25
-$1 Schick Q
=$5.74 (after tax)  - received  $3RR

7 Transactions and a total of $41.47 spent OOP
and I left with $6 in RR and...
1 Clairol Hair Color
4 bags of Epson salt
4 4pks of razors
3 Swiffer Dry (16ct)
9 Swiffer Wet refills (12ct)

Overall I think it was a good trip.  The whole "rolling" issue went a lot smoother than I expected. I think it helped that the girl ringing me up at the second store (where I did the transactions) had just watched Extreme Couponing the night before and was therefore really excited about what you could do with coupons.  Just the Swiffers alone at CostCo (which is the best price I've found on them) would have been $36+tax.

Saved a Total of $81.41 (or about 71%)

Nice Money Maker Trip to Rite Aid

You gotta love trips like this.  I'd originally thought about picking up a few more things so that I could use my $20+UP, but realized I had some smaller ones that would expire sooner, plus I had the $3/15 coupon that printed from doing their survey after the last visit.

So I bought:
3 Colgates @ $2.99 ($2+UP)
-(3) $1 coupons
1 Blink      @ $8.99 ($5+UP)
1 Veet      @ $5.84 (after 10% discount for Silver status)
-$3 coupon
= $17.80
-$3/15
-$9+UPs
=$5.80 + tax
(got back $21 +UPs, evidently I hit the $30 purchase for the Heart Healthy bonus and didn't know it).

So, now I'm sitting on over $30 in +UPs.  I love Rite Aid.
