2 Good Shopping Trips Today

I wish all my shopping trips went as well as my two today (despite fighting the crowds of bread and milk "OMG it's gonna snow" shoppers).  I think the fact that the stores were so busy helped me stick to my plan that much more.  First I hit Kroger....

• 3 Old El Paso Refried Beans @ 3/$4 = $4
• 2 Old El Paso Taco Seasoning @ $1.09 each = 2.18
• 2 Athenos Hummus @ .98 each = 1.96
• Flatbread = $2.50

Total after tax: $13.11


From there I headed to Publix (which wasn't nearly as busy for some reason), and bought....

These were both pretty small trips and hopefully I can keep them small for the most part now that we have a decent stockpile of most (non-perishable) items that we use regularly.  The best thing about both of these trips is the items I got totally FREE at each store.  I almost forgot about the Swiss Miss until I was in line.  I had to go back for those (they weren't even on sale but just the fact that they were free after the coupons made it worth getting out of line).

More Extreme Couponing

Evidently TLC got the response they wanted out of the show Extreme Couponing and they will be bringing us more of the Extreme fun.  According to Entertainment Weekly, Extreme Couponing will be returning for at least 12 1/2-hour episodes.

Thinking another potential title could be "Organized Hoarding".  I actually hope that in the new episodes they pare down the focus a little bit and just do one couponer per episode (since they will be shorter episodes), so we can get a broader view into each one.

How to Remove Duplicates Entries in Google Reader

In the last couple of months my number of RSS subscriptions has grown dramatically.  I use Google Reader, which does make it much easier to scan through them all, but it doesn't organize them alphabetically (or I haven't figured out how to) and it doesn't detect when you have duplicate feeds.

Unfortunately, I've had a LOT of duplicate feeds.  This happens when the blog author sets up duplicate RSS feeds; often when they move their blog from a site like blogger to their own domain and create a new feed, but the old one still exists and still gets updated.  With upwards of 1000+ new posts/day in my reader it was getting insane to keep track of them all.  I noticed the duplicates but I couldn't find an easy way to get rid of them.  When I look at the list it's all jumbled with no organization.  The only thing I could figure out to do was to look at ALL the new posts and then notice when there were two of the same in a row, write down the name of that blog then go back and try to find one of the entries and remove it.

I even Googled how to get rid of duplicates and couldn't find an easier answer.  Then I finally started playing in my settings. I've been in there before but it's been a while.  On the top right of Google Reader, you'll see a link that says "Settings". 

Click that and it drops down to give you the options of "Reader Settings" or "Google Account Settings".  Select "Reader Settings", then click on Subscriptions.  You'll find that when you do the page lists ALL of your RSS subscriptions in alphabetical order, and on the right side you'll see the option to delete a subscription.  With the feeds in alphabetical order you can easily see the duplicates and then choose to delete one (or more) of them, making it easier to keep up with your subscriptions later.

Bra Shopping & Sales

It's that time ladies, time to go bra shopping!

Victoria's Secret is having their Semi-Annual sale, with clearance prices as low as ? and many bras marked down to $19.  A friend of mine told me she managed to snag 5 bras for just $57 out the door.  I went and didn't have the same luck (then again I'm a few -who am I kidding - sizes bigger than she is).  I also noticed that at one of the VS stores I went into all the bras felt like they were melting. I don't know if it's a new material they are using or if they really were melting.  But, the inside of the bras felt sticky; like if you put them on you'd sweat to death, but your boobs would stay put.  I didn't find those at the second VS store I went into, but I also didn't find any bras in my size, at either store.

JCPenney has all of their bras (in the $30 range) B1G1 50%.  However, even there I only managed to find one that fit me well (and it was clearance, just $16.99).

Sears is also having a sale with all of their bras marked down 40% off.  By the time I got there I'd had enough of trying on bras and didn't find the same one I'd already bought so I just didn't buy.

Guys really don't realize how lucky they are to not have to wear these things.
